Whats next

Once the core software receives its final polishing and refinement my goal is to release both the client and server code as fully open source. Because the rendering and web UI require a continuously running backend server, I also plan to offer a hosted solution giving you a completely seamless plug-and-play experience right out of the box.

Depending on community interest I am also looking into manufacturing a limited small batch of fully assembled physical frames and hardware kits.

Updates

08.06.2026
  1. Overall Polish: The code still had some rough parts that needed cleaning up and could be simplified. This includes changes in: error handling, visual bugs, unexpected api returns, save state errors and more.
  2. Web Interface: The web interface is now fully working. Destinations can be selected by searching for them in the list on the left or by simply clicking on them on the map. Currently only optimized for desktop but better mobile sizing for small screens will be addressed.
28.05.2026
  1. State support:Added possibilty to show states of large countries.
  2. Gray tone support & anti aliasing: Added proper support for the 4 gray tones the E-Ink display supports! Together with an anti aliasing step this improves the visibility and readiblity on the low resolution display by a large margin.
  3. Fixed Circle Territories: Increased the threshold for a country to show as a circle, fixed clipping when multiple destinations would otherwise overlap and improved visibility when a circle is surounded by other already selected destinations.
  4. New Downsampling Technique: Implemented a better downscaling logic to preserve fine details, sharp coastlines and „thin“ destinations where the two borders would melt into one.
  5. Next Destination Marker: The next destination is now marked in a light gray to make it stand out.
  6. Web interface (early testing): Added a simple web interface to manage everything.
